30 March 2013 – Beijing, China

It’s Saturday in Beijing and today our city tour includes Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace.  As we approach the 100 acre Tiananmen Square we walk past thousands of people lined up to visit Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum.  Crossing the square we enter the Forbidden City, the worlds largest palace complex with 9,999 rooms.  The architecture is amazing.  It boggles the mind to think thaqt for five centuries no outside visitors were allowed to enter or see this beautiful place.

After lunch we visit the Summer Palace, another amazing complex.  Set on the shores of picturesque lake this 700 acre palace playground is nothing short of amazing.  The Dragon Boat ride was a real treat.

To top off the day we enjoyed the Peking Opera.
